PMMI Issues Call for Presentations for 2009 Conference at PACK EXPO

147785-pack_expo_logo_sm_v1.jpgPMMI is seeking presentations for the 2009 Conference at PACK EXPO, which will be held Oct. 5–7, in conjunction with PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2009 (Oct. 5 –7, Las Vegas Convention Center).

The theme for the conference is “Maximizing Performance, Sustainability & Economics,” and would-be speakers must submit proposals to PMMI no later than Tuesday, March 17, 2009.

“Because packaging professionals are enduring one of the toughest economic periods of the last several decades, this year’s conference is tightly focused on economics and sustainability – two principal drivers of packaging change today,” says Conference at PACK EXPO Program Director Ben Miyares, vice president of industry relations for show organizer PMMI.

Presentations should relate exclusively to the conference theme, “Maximizing Performance, Sustainability & Economics,” says Miyares, who offers the following guidelines:

Sessions should be educational, not promotional.

Proposals are due Tuesday, March 17.

A Program Advisory Panel comprising packaging managers and experienced packaging professionals will review proposals and select the best from among the submissions. Applicants will be notified of the panel’s decision by Monday, April 27, 2009.
“The Conference is the educational component of PACK EXPO and draws an audience of critical packaging managers with little tolerance for commercial sales pitches,” Miyares notes.

“Conference at PACK EXPO registrants come to the show looking for technologies, tools, techniques and tactics to help them trim their packaging costs while enhancing performance, efficiency, cost effectiveness and sustainability of their packaging operations,” Miyares says.

Within the conference theme, general areas of interest for presentation topics include packaging economics, sustainability and emerging technologies:
