Compliance package

The Ecoslide-RX child-resistant, senior-friendly compliance package also is designed to be eco-friendly. The package is made from 100 percent recyclable material, contains no plastic in its secondary packaging, and requires minimal film and foil while maintaining the highest F=1 child resistant rating. The compliance package is featured as a solution for prescription products, physician's samples and clinical trial materials that meet and exceed sustainability objectives adopted by an increasing number of organizations, the company states.

Low-migration inks

Designed specifically for the folding carton market, the new EcoTech Low Migration sheetfed process-color inks are formulated without mineral oil, are cobalt-free and have minimal residual odor. These inks comply with the Nestlé guidance note on packaging inks and conform to U.S. and European food packaging guidelines for outer printing. They also meet ISO 2846-1 standards and are suitable to GRACoL G7 certification, the company states.

Blister films

Alu-Look aluminum blister films represent a versatile, high-speed packaging option for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications, compared to cold-form film and aluminum strip packaging options. The product can be used as a mono film with no substantial changes in properties compared to clear PVC. Its primary application is for laminations to PCTFE films (Aclar or VapoShield), giving it superior moisture barrier properties to protect hygroscopic contents, the company claims.

Recyclable HDPE pouch

Dubbed the No. 2 Pouch, this predominantly high-density polyethylene stand-up pouch exhibits high stiffness and strength characteristics for in-store merchandising and at-home storage, but can also be recycled with retail shopping bags. Labeled with the Society of the Plastics Industry number 2 triangle, it offers an alternative to traditional laminated stand-up pouches. In addition to recyclability, the No. 2 Pouch provides high moisture barrier and puncture resistance for product protection. Along with a lower cost compared to laminated stand-up pouches, the No. 2 Pouch can be printed using high-definition graphics for shelf impact. The company also is developing the LDPE No. 4 Pouch.

Decorated closures

The company announces its new multi-functional and sustainable process for double anodizing to decorate closures for various markets, including beverages, spirits and cosmetics. The double anodizing process involves printing a design, logo or artwork, using a specialized masking ink, onto an anodized surface. This is followed by an exterior treatment to strip the anodic film base, which is then re-anodized in a second color and/or finish. Artwork, design, color and finish options are limitless when combined with this system.

PET preform additive

The Joule RHB-2 preform additive helps reduce manufacturing energy use, energy cost and CO₂ emissions for PET processors wishing to improve the environmental credentials of their products. The RHB is available as a 10 percent liquid dispersion in ethylene glycol and is suitable for use in all PET process technologies. The material is FDA and EU food contact approved for use in PET bottle resins; it is used at 2 to 10 ppm depending on container type, size and thickness. Label facestock

The company is introducing Global MDO to its machine direction oriented (MDO) film product line. The new film laminate bridges the gap between the high-performing MDO film range and PE85 film. It includes a significant reduction in web breaks, with up to 50 percent less ooze and provides double the amount of labels per roll, the company claims. The MDO film provides the base for beautiful, clear film labels, delivering differentiating appeal "on-shelf" and during consumer use. The clear facestock offers printability with on-press corona treatment and delivers stable print registration resulting in consistent high-quality printing.

Heat-transfer label

New flexo heat transfer label technology is cost effective for small production run quantities, multiple SKUs and ever-changing graphics.
