Pack Plus, a special exhibit dedicated to the topic of package printing, has been organized by interpack, the leading international trade fair for the packaging sector and related processing industriesat the print media trade show drupa 2012. (Both interpack and drupa are organized by Messe Düsseldorf.) Drupa 2012 will take place from May 3-16, 2012, at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The 3,200-sq-ft special show in Hall 11 will highlight the importance of integrated package printing with a product example: the "D" drink. In the center of the exhibit, various primary and secondary packages for the "D" drink designed by the exhibitors in this special exhibit, such as Saueressig, Huber Packaging Group and Druck Chemie, will be presented. The results will show how a brand or a product can be supported by the choice of materials and the printing and finishing techniques.

Exhibits divided into four segments will be located around the center of Pack Plus: materials suppliers (materials, inks, consumables), package printers (support, prepress, digital printing), converters (machines, systems, value chain) and brand manufacturers (marketing, design, purchasing). This provides a 360-degree overview of package printing, giving drupa visitors insights into the technologies used to produce the exhibited packages and also the opportunity for direct contact with the participating companies.

In addition to the Pack Plus special exhibit, the topic of package printing will be discussed at the "drupa cube" conference and network platform in Hall 7a. May 4, 2012 will be the "Day of Packaging" and speakers from the industry will talk about sustainable packaging concepts, the possibilities offered by digital printing and methods to prevent package counterfeiting. The symposium will take place from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with simultaneous translations in German and English. The cost for the one-day event ticket is €199 and includes the admission to drupa 2012 and a lunch. For more information: www.drupacube.de
