Catalent creates new Development & Clinical segment, appoints new leaderCatalent Pharma Solutions announces the creation of a new business unit dedicated to helping customers bring new pharmaceutical and biologic products to market. The Development and Clinical Services segment brings together Catalent’s analytical and science services and regulatory consulting services, formerly in its Sterile Technologies segment, with its clinical supply services business, formerly included in the Packaging Services segment. Catalent also announces the appointment of Scott Houlton as Group President for the new segment, effective August 31st.The new segment will build upon Catalent’s expertise and experience in supporting the development and testing of drugs and biologics through scientific, regulatory and clinical trial supply chain services.

The Glass Packaging Institute will kick off Recycle Glass Week, 
September 21 – 27, 2009Recycle Glass Week 2009 starts with four chances to meet “Little Bottle” in New York City. People can recycle with Little Bottle at the Madison Square Park Concert Series on two weekends, Saturday, September 19th and 26th, meet up with him at the Today Show on Monday, September 21st, or spot him on the streets of NYC on Sunday, September 20th for a photo op.Later in the week, on Wednesday, September 23rd, GPI recognizes its “Friends of Glass,” those companies, organizations and people making significant and innovative efforts to recycle glass containers and create glass recycling awareness. Management Changes for SCA Packaging EuropeSCA has initiated a search for a new President of SCA Packaging Europe. Phil Almond, current President, will leave his position. Meanwhile, David Stead, CFO, will take on the duty as acting President.An efficiency-improvement program, resulting in SEK 1,070m in lower annual costs, was launched for the European packaging operations during the spring. The program is running according to plan. However, further adaptations to the market conditions remain and calls for a leadership capable of leading major changes and with thorough industrial experience.

Uniboard’s Moncure, North Carolina plant earns FSC CertificationUniboard, a North American leader of manufactured engineered wood products, is pleased to announce that its plant in Moncure, North Carolina has been issued a Chain of Custody (COC) Certificate Multi-site by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) SW-COC 002726.

The Moncure plant is also certified under the EPP program with the Composite Panel Association (CPA) and meets the requirements of California Air Resources Board (CARB) Phase 1. Also, the Moncure Plant can offer products that are certified CARB Phase 2.

Wyeth recognizes six suppliers for outstanding 

performance during 2008Wyeth announced the winners of its first-ever Global Recognition for Outstanding Wyeth Suppliers (GROWS) awards program.Recipients were selected by Wyeth for their outstanding performance during 2008 in six categories: Quality; Delivery; Customer Service; Technical Support; Continuous Improvement; and Supplier of the Year. Suppliers to Wyeth’s major manufacturing sites in North America and Europe were evaluated by a selection committee made up of procurement, manufacturing and quality and compliance representatives from the company’s Technical Operations and Product Supply (TO&PS) network.  Hanson Logistics names Blake Larkin Vice President
