Solo Cup Company Appoints James Alexy to Board of Directors
Solo Cup Company announced the appointment of R. James Alexy to fill a vacancy on its Board of Directors. Mr. Alexy, 69, recently retired as Chairman of the Board of Network Services Company. He joined Network Services Company in 1992 and built the company from $1 billion to $16 billion in annual revenue over 18 years. Prior to Network Services Company, Mr. Alexy held management and executive level positions in a variety of industries and companies, including Sealy, Inc., Fort Howard Corporation, Pope & Talbot and Gulf & Western Industries. He began his career at Scott Paper Company in 1964.
Lauraville Announces Change in Ownership and Roll-Out of Green Initiatives
Lauraville Packaging, LLC, a newly-formed subsidiary of Quarry Road Holdings, LLC, announced today that it has acquired all of the assets of Geneva, New York-based packaging company Lauraville Specialty Products, LLC, including manufacturing facilities located in Geneva and exclusive rights to the company's product lines, services and national distribution chain. The transaction closed on January 19, 2010. Under the terms of the acquisition agreement, the former principal of Lauraville Specialty Products, George A. Bastedo, Jr., will remain with the company as Senior Vice President of Operations.
Kleinfeld, Alcoa, Recognized for Service Leadership
Alcoa President and Chief Executive Officer, Klaus Kleinfeld, was honored for his personal commitment to national service, receiving the 2010 Ripples of Hope Award from City Year New York. The Award recognizes Kleinfeld for his passion and dedication to community service and his commitment to building a positive future for all young people. Accepting the award at a gala New York ceremony in front of 500 corporate, community, and philanthropic leaders, including Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Kleinfeld paid homage to the Alcoa volunteers who each day give time and energy to make the world a better place.
RIVERCAP and SPARFLEX Merge their Capsule Operations for the Wine and Spirit Industries
BENICIA, The Spanish wine capsule company is joining forces with its French counterpart, SPARFLEX SA, to better serve their wine and spirits clients. This operation is the result of a common vision of the world capsule market for cork-finished wines and spirits, where both companies have identified important synergies in their commercial and manufacturing operations. This new group will create the critical mass necessary to address the demands of the current wine and spirit markets, particularly in terms of response time and innovation of high-end capsules. The objective of this new group is to offer better customer service, a larger range of products, state-of-the-art technology and a manufacturing capacity on several continents.
