Budco adds new automation capabilities to meet customer sampling fulfillment needs
Budco has expanded their sample fulfillment capabilities by adding new, leading-edge assembly and packaging technology to their existing automated production center. Working with Pack-Smart, a leading worldwide supplier of automated packaging equipment, Budco designed a fully automated, high capacity production and assembly solution to support their growing product sampling and fulfillment business. This new technology uses an automated inline process to assemble and package product samples of all types in preparation for mailing to consumers. Samples might include over the counter drugs, cosmetics, food or a variety of other household products.

Fuwei Films Announces a New BOPET Patent for Heat Shrinkage Film
Fuwei Films (Holdings) Co. Limited announced that Fuwei Films (Shandong) Co., Ltd. the Company's operating subsidiary, has applied for a new BOPET films patent for heat shrinkage film which has been reviewed by the State Intellectual Property Office of China. Currently this product is manufactured on the pilot production line. The pilot line is expected to be in full production based on the orders and purchase demand from our customers we have already received. Fuwei Shandong is planning to transform the Bruckner production line from the next half of this year to the first half of next year. If they successfully transform the production line, the monthly production of heat shrinkage film will be more than 500 tons.

Casey Container Corp. receives strong demand for pre-orders to produce biodegradable bottle preforms
Casey Container Corp.  reports that it has been receiving a stream of preorders for its biodegradable preforms used in the manufacturing of its new brand of biodegradable plastic bottles. Utilizing the new FDA-compliant EcoPure® technology, Casey Container is preparing to produce custom plastic container products that utilize standard polymers such as PET for strength, shelf-life, appearance and longevity, but have the added advantage of being 100 percent biodegradable in both compost and landfill environments, where the material is consumed by microbial activity in 2 to 5 years.

TAPPI announces that its William L. Cullison Scholarship Committee has made its selections for this year. The award is named in honor of the Association's fifth Executive Director, an extraordinary industry leader.

• $6000 ($2000 per semester) to Casey Kick, Western Michigan University, for his last three semesters (Fall 2010, Spring 2011, Fall 2011)
