ABB Robotics to open training lab at Vincennes University
ABB will open a Robotics training lab at VU’s $9 million industrial training facility, the Indiana Center for Applied Technology (ICAT). The ABB Robotics training lab features 29 ABB robots and related work cells, software and controllers, and will allow students to gain training in applications that include robotic welding and plasma cutting; picking, packing and palletizing; machine tending, material handling and product assembly; and advanced vision related programming. The first training class in the new lab is “IRC5 Basic Programming (US420)”, an introductory robotic programming course beginning at 9:00 a.m. on November 8th and concluding at noon on Friday, November 12th. It is currently open for registration.
Pregis names Kevin Baudhuin president of global protective packaging
Pregis Corp. has named Kevin Baudhuin, president, global protective packaging, effective immediately. Baudhuin now will oversee the company’s European protective packaging business and will continue to report to Mike McDonnell, president and chief executive officer, Pregis Corp.
Dow Chief Liveris elected president, ACC’s Dooley Secretary of ICCA
The International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) board of directors elected Andrew Liveris, chairman and chief executive officer of The Dow Chemical Company and Cal Dooley, president and chief executive officer of the American Chemistry Council, as ICCA president and secretary, respectively. Both officers will serve a two-year term starting on January 1, 2011.

Tapemark earns DEA registration as a Schedule III – V manufacturer of controlled substances
Tapemark announced that it is now DEA registered as a Schedule III – V Manufacturer of Controlled Substances. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), a component of the US Department of Justice, granted the registration this week following a successful inspection. It is effective immediately.

Representative Tim Holden and Pennsylvania House Speaker Keith McCall joined a slate of elected officials, 30-year employees and other honored guests at the Hometown, Pa. headquarters of global effect pigment manufacturer Silberline, Tamaqua, Pa. Hosted this week by third-generation President and CEO Lisa Jane Scheller in conjunction with celebrations at the company’s facilities in Indiana, Scotland, China, Mexico and Singapore, the 65th anniversary event marked a milestone that drew praise for innovation, community involvement and a commitment to employees, customers and vendors.
