NACD announces scholarship fund winners
The National Association of Container Distributors (NACD) is pleased to announce the winners of the Henry Hoffman Memorial Scholarship Fund (HHMSF) for 2010.
The two winners are:

• Taylor Masiello, representing All American Containers
• Derek Scolaro, representing Andler Packaging Group

Ms. Masiello will be attending the University of Florida and Mr. Scolaro will be attending Boston University. Winners were honored during the NACD Annual Convention in April. Each recipient will receive $1,500 for each of their four years they are enrolled in college. To re-qualify each year, recipients must maintain a yearly grade point average of 2.5.


Spartan Logistics announces Steve Harmon as new company leader
Columbus, Ohio based warehouse and distribution provider, Spartan Logistics, announced Steve Harmon will be assuming leadership of the company, as his father, Ed Harmon, steps down after 22 years of running the company. Under Harmon’s leadership, the warehouse and distribution provider will continue to maintain a focus on the handling of food grade materials, glass, paper, and fragile/ high value products.

Chesapeake adds new Mark Andy flexo technology
Chesapeake Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Packaging  has selected the latest in-line narrow web flexo printing technology, the Mark Andy Performance Series, to enhance the ability of its Kunshan operation in China. Additional machines are under discussion for future installations, as well.

Entropy Solutions sells GREENBOX systems to ThermoSafe Brands
Entropy Solutions, Inc., a Minneapolis-based thermal technology development company, announced it has sold its GREENBOX line of sustainable temperature-controlled shipping materials to ThermoSafe Brands, a division of Tegrant Corporation. In addition, the two companies have initiated an exclusive worldwide licensing agreement to use Entropy Solutions’ PureTemp renewable phase-change materials within the temperature sensitive life sciences marketplace. The GREENBOX thermal management system is designed for safe transportation of temperature-sensitive products, including biologics and pharmaceuticals. 

Addition to BirdDog OnDemand portal opens doors to transportation best practices
BirdDog Solutions, Inc., announced the addition of a hosted rating and routing application to its online services portal, BirdDog OnDemand. The newly added application boasts a series of robust planning and execution features that make BirdDog the first company in the industry to provide transportation analysis, procurement, execution, audit, and payment capabilities through a unique combination of managed services and Software as a Service (SaaS). As a result, BirdDog now provides its customers with a single-source transportation management solution.
