California herb grower Rocket Farms has installed dual automated packaging lines — one for 9-centimeter pots and one for 14-cm pots — to pack herb plants, such as basil, for retail sale. The grower worked with Crea-Tech to implement the lines, which pack 1,500 to 1,800 pots per hour. The cases are manually filled, but sleeving, labeling, tray filling, case erecting, and palletizing are all automated, as shown in this video. A cup conveyor system provides controlled transportation of the unstable pots.
