One new way to toast the summer with flair is with a product being dubbed the first rum that's infused and bottled with all-natural fruit, such as mangoes and pineapples. 267 Infusions from Boz Spirits starts with ultra-premium, Barbados plantation virgin rum, which won a gold award at the 2007 World Beverage Competition, and infuses it with fresh, ripe mangoes or pineapples. Named after the home address number of the owner, 267 Infusions also offers vodka infused with oranges, cranberries, lemons or tangy olives and pearl onions and even tequila spiced with bright red chili peppers or oranges. There are eight varieties in the line, all infused by hand

The rum versions, launched in time for National Rum Day on Aug. 16, are available in 200- and 750-mL sizes of large, distinctive glass bottles that are wide enough to showcase the infused fruit ingredients in clever arrangements. Designed and hand-molded out of clay by the company founder, Stacie Parker Shonfeld, the proprietary bottles were inspired by small gourds used in Latin American to carry fruit juices to keep them fresh and cool. The bottles are topped with distinctive, matte black closures sourced in China. Priced at $9.99 for the 200-mL size and $24.99 for the 750-mL size, the new rums, as well as the other 267 Infusions beverages, may baffle consumers as to how the fruit or other ingredients gets inside the bottle. But Boz hopes they have no difficulty discovering many ways to enjoy getting it out.
