A handful of events or trends I spotted in 2022 will significantly impact the trajectory of the sustainable packaging market in the future.

As you might expect, some of these are inter-related. Also, some of these will probably only have short term impact in the marketplace, either because consumer attitudes change, or because the so-called improvements do not generate enough consumer interest to support the associated development, production, and related marketing/sales expenses needed for success.

Regulations, refillable packaging, PET bottle replacements, deceptive greenwashing, and an increase in recyclable containers deserve our attention for their future impact.
