Ansell introduces new eco-friendly packaging for gloves

Ansell Healthcare Products LLC has improved its glove packaging with a newer, greener design that significantly reduces packaging waste and also helps conserve fuel consumption.

Ansell's increased-count exam pack contains more exam gloves per box – and per case. The newly designed dispensing box still fits into customers' existing wall brackets, yet provides 50-100% more gloves depending on the specific glove selected. This means boxes hold 150 to 200 gloves, as opposed to the prior design of 100 gloves.

The new box design also substantially reduces packaging waste. For example, Carolina's HealthCare System (CHS), which oversees 25 hospitals, will reduce waste by 80,000 lbs (40 tons) per year with the new packaging. This is equivalent to 20 average-size U.S. cars! And, by reducing this waste, CHS will also reduce the cost of processing that waste.

Plus, by containing more gloves in a single box it also reduces the need for facility storage space and reduces re-stocking orders – saving on fuel consumption and shipping costs.

At the same time, the re-designed glove packaging increases healthcare worker efficiencies. The new box helps reduce stock-outs on hospital floors -- a time and labor issue that frustrates healthcare workers who lack needed supplies, and for personnel charged with frequent box replacements.
