Disney gives consulting firm award for sustainable packaging ideas
Disney Consumer Products (DCP) has given its 2010 Quality Product Award for Sustainability to Clean Agency, a research-based consulting firm specializing in sustainable business solutions for global consumer goods companies. The company helped with the package redesign of Winnie the Pooh Plush by Dream. Clean Agency received the recognition and award at the DCP North American Sales Meeting Entertainment Showcase held Nov. 8, 2010, at Disneyland.
In support of the Pooh Plush package redesign, Clean's marketing and research team conducted a thorough life-cycle analysis of the original package to understand its impact on the environment and to identify key areas for improvement. These insights allowed Disney Toys package designers to think creatively about alternative designs that create less waste, cut costs and reduce carbon emissions involved in producing the package. The resulting design led to an 80 percent reduction in packaging waste.
"Disney has a wonderful legacy of environmental stewardship and we're glad to contribute to the excellence at the heart of its brand," says Seri McClendon, CEO and principal, Clean Agency. "We remain committed to helping DCP determine and achieve aggressive sustainability targets to further solidify their position as an innovator and leader in the toy product industry."
Nominations for the annual Disney Consumer Products 2010 Quality Product Awards were made by each of the DCP's lines of business and were evaluated by the senior DCP leadership team.
