The new Plastic Film Recycling Directory is a tool to help businesses, municipalities, and consumers identify recycling programs, facilities, and partners that accept flexible film materials, including plastic bags, wraps, and other polyethylene films. It was developed by the Flexible Film Recycling Alliance (FFRA), and gained public support from the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA). FPA publicly announced its support in a statement on January 17.
Among his supportive words, Dan Felton, FPA president & CEO, said the directory "represents a major step forward in enhancing recycling access and advancing a more circular economy for flexible films."
This is consistent with the FFRA's goals to advance, expand access, and promote the recycling of flexible plastic films. In turn, Patrick Krieger, senior vice president of sustainability at the Plastics Industry Association, home to the FFRA's initiative, called the directory "an essential step toward increasing plastic film recycling rates across America."
Now the task is to promote this useful tool. Retailers and recycling depots collecting plastic film are encouraged to join the directory. For inclusion, contact Kurt Kurzawa at [email protected]. For more information, visit the directory’s website.
