Kashi rewards cereal box recyclers with RecycleBank points



Kashi Co. has partnered with RecycleBank to encourage sustainable forms of consumption, raise awareness for America Recycles Day (which was Nov. 15) and inspire more people to recycle.

 

Kashi is participating in RecycleBank's "Points for Planet" platform. Through June 30, 2011, Kashi's "Recycle This Box to Get Rewards" promotional callout will invite people to enter a code online at www.recyclebank.com/kashi as a pledge to recycle the box. This callout will appear on all Kashi Organic Promise biscuit cereal boxes, including Autumn Wheat,Cinnamon Harvest and Island Vanilla.

 

In exchange for entering this code, individuals will earn 15 RecycleBank points per box, redeemable for various rewards from local and national business partners, including coupons for Kashi cereal.

 

"Through our partnership with RecycleBank, we have an ideal opportunity to help educate people on the importance of recycling paperboard packaging to support our environment," says Jeff Johnson, senior nutritionist and natural lifestyle expert. "Paper is one of the easiest materials to recycle, yet paper and paperboard make up more than 30 percent of our landfills. At Kashi, we realize that recycling isn't the only way to green our planet, but it is one of the many actions that can make a positive impact. This RecycleBank program presents a unique opportunity to help drive waste down in a way that is measurable and rewards people for helping the overall recycling cause."

 

Founded in 1997 and held on Nov. 15, America Recycles Day is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to encouraging Americans to recycle.
