Sunfare, a provider of healthy home-delivered meals in Los Angeles and Phoenix, is introducing an eco-friendly line of packaging made from corn and potatoes, with the intent of providing a new level of environmental stewardship to this part of the nutrition industry.

Known as much for their famous clientele (celebrities like Britney Spears, Eva Longoria-Parker, Poppy Montgomery, Charlie Sheen, and a host of athletes including players in the Cardinal’s Super Bowl) as for the quality and effectiveness of their product, Sunfare is also keenly aware of their impact on the planet.

“The move from plastic-recyclable to organic-biodegradable packaging has always been top of mind for us. It took time to locate a vendor who could create a sturdy container that was also sustainable. We’re thrilled to make the transition, and the feedback from our clients has been tremendous,” says Carl Ferro, Sunfare President & Co-founder.

The new American-made containers are composed entirely of natural resins that come from corn and potatoes – no oil is necessary for their production. Once a container has been used, it is taken to a local composting facility where it is broken down into soil in three to six months. Not only does this keep the containers out of landfills, but the new soil can be used to grow more corn and potatoes, creating a sustainable cycle that saves finite resources.

“Consumers want to know that a company is globally responsible; we’re proud to take a stand for the world we live in, and we’ve already seen an influx of new business following our green initiative,” says John Stewart, Sunfare CEO & Co-founder.

This new packaging will be immediately circulated to customers in a redesigned “green” cooler bag.
