Reusable/refillable packaging usually takes a back seat to recyclable or compostable packaging for many packaging designers. Yet it is just as important to consider to help fulfill corporate sustainability goals and reduce potential eco-modulation fees of extended producer responsibility (EPR) programs.

Educational sessions at the upcoming Pack Ex Montréal 2024 event provide an intense focus on this often neglected yet critical area of packaging sustainability. The Reusable Packaging Showcase, hosted by PAC Global and the Canadian Plastics Pact, will feature a full day of reusable packaging content on Day 1 — Wednesday, November 13 — and will convert to a “showcase” on Day 2 — Thursday, November 14 — with more than a dozen companies having tabletops to display their reusable packaging technology/innovations.

Reusable packaging isn’t the only topic covered at the Pack Ex Montréal event, though. Pack Ex Montréal is part of the larger Advanced Design & Manufacturing (ADM) Montréal show, which brings together six advanced manufacturing areas: Design & Manufacturing, Automation Technology Expo, Pack Ex, Expoplast, Powder & Bulk Solids, and the new FabBatt. Educational sessions are free for registered attendees to the event.

Here we’ve pulled out the presentations related to packaging and packaging production that we think you’d be most interested in. Sessions from ADM Technology Day, a one-day webinar series that took place on July 24, are available free in the event-planning program called Map Your Show. The on-demand sessions are only accessible to those who create MYS planners once you’ve registered for the event and give you a taste of what you’ll hear at the November in-person event.

Please note: Montréal requires a percentage of sessions to be presented in French. We’ve identified those in this list.
