Sealed Air Fill-Air R5 sustainable packaging film

Fill-Air R5 inflatable packaging film is designed to boost the overall sustainability of packaging while delivering the same performance as traditional films. The material can be used on the company's Fill-Air 2000 and Fill-Air Cyclone packaging systems to create air-filled cusions for void-fill applications. The material contains a minimum of 10 percent thermoplastic starch resin which, according to the firm, is derived from an annually renewable source; it also is said to contain a minimum of 10 percent pre-consumer recycled content derived from film manufacturing facilities. Packers reportedly can reduce the amount of material used when packaging the product compared to other materials such as polystyrene peanuts. Because of the film's reported strength and superior air retention, customers can reuse cushions made with the film in other packages; it also may be recycled with polyolefin films through local recyclers, or by sending it to the Ameripak Recycling Center.
