Winners of the WorldStar Award 2022 competition’s Special Category for Sustainability bring to light the remarkable work going on worldwide in the sustainable-packaging space.

This Special Category focuses on responsible use of packaging material to promote sustainability, and the 2022 winners range from a circular-plastics initiative for school milk packaging to a fully compostable, recyclable fiber bottle and closure.

Organized by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO), the WorldStar Award 2022 competition produced 240 winners chosen from more than 440 entries. The biggest winners, by country, were Germany, Australia/New Zealand, Japan, and China, respectively. WPO honored the winners at an in-person ceremony in Milan, Italy, in May 2022.

In our slideshow, we present each of the five WorldStar 2022 Sustainability Special Award winners starting with the gold winner. Click to see a photo and description of each package.
