Spring brings greener options in sustainable packaging

On-going introductions and developments from vendors continue to provide brand owners with more and better options for improving the sustainability of their packaging. We present four fresh options in this market, including film, paper, polymer and inks, starting with a greener dual-ovenable lidstock shown above.

LumiLid bio-based, dual-ovenable lidding films are manufactured with Toray Plastics (America), Inc.’s proprietary sustainable resin blends, which are made with more than 50% renewable feedstocks. The new FDA-compliant LumiLid films are designed for frozen, wet and dry food, and dairy applications and can withstand oven temperatures of up to 400°F for 30 minutes. LumiLid films offer another level of assurance for dairy customers in that they are Interstate Milk Shippers (IMS)-certified.

The films are available in clear, white, and metallized formats.
