Strong turnout expected for plastics and rubber trade fair, K 2010

At K 2010, 18th International Trade Fair Plastics and Rubber, some 3,100 exhibitors from 57 countries will again present their latest developments for all sectors of the plastics and rubber industry on 1.7 million square feet of net exhibit space. About 60% of the space will be occupied by exhibitors from countries other than Germany. K 2010 will be held from October 27 – November 3, 2010 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.

To date, the number of German exhibitors at K 2010 totals 1,058, with a net exhibit area of 707,600 square feet. Italy is traditionally the most strongly represented country among the non-German exhibitors and more than 400 Italian companies have booked a net space of 294,900 square feet to showcase their products.

Also strongly represented among the European countries will be Austria (87,200 square feet), Switzerland (65,600 square feet), France (53,800 square feet) and the Netherlands (45,200 square feet). From the U.S., 115 companies will take part, occupying some 48,400 square feet of exhibition space – an increase compared to K 2007. In addition, the contingents from China (72,100 square feet), India (48,400 square feet) and Turkey (30,100 square feet) have grown. With 57,000 square feet, Taiwan will be as strongly represented this year as in 2007.

For the first time, exhibitors from Armenia, Chile, Indonesia, Pakistan and Vietnam will participate in the K trade fair.

To help K 2010 trade visitors to conduct searches and find solutions in advance of the show, exhibitors are making use of the communication platform offered on the trade fair’s website www.k-online.de. Under the heading “Companies & Products”, visitors can search for exhibitors, products/services or company news. With the “extended search” option, it is also possible to locate companies according to country of origin or zip code.

In addition, users can obtain lists of exhibitors who offer a particular product or service. The Online Showrooms of the individual companies contain exhibitor data, product information, links to home pages and stand activities during the trade fair as well as company profiles and figures. Should any question still remain unanswered, the “Matchmaking” search allows users to post specific requests or find products meeting very special needs.

Using the quick and easy login to the trade fair portal – the login section is on the right-hand side of the home page – users can compile their own personalized product information list or plan their tour of the trade fair using the MyOrganizer tool. To make personalized trade fair planning even easier, any number of compilations can be made by repeating searches with different criteria. To become familiar with the exhibition hall layout before travelling to Düsseldorf, the website offers an interactive flash floor plan.

Mobile research is also possible: the exhibitors and products databases can be accessed via PDAs and other mobile devices at http://mobile.k-online.de.
