2. Best in New Food and Beverage Packaging
This round-up of innovative package designs, sustainability plans, and technology — all discovered on social media — was a big hit among Packaging Digest’s readers. The finds included a pouch made from edible, seaweed-based material as well as Pringles’ first packaging redesign in 20 years.
Also included were PepsiCoEU’s commitment to use 100% recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) in all Pepsi-brand bottles in nine European countries by 2022, and a microtechnology device that can be inserted in flexible packaging materials to control gas exchange between a package’s interior and exterior, in both directions, to extend food’s shelf life.
