Packaging Professionals Thankful in Diverse Ways

From AMERIPEN, Fresh Del Monte, and FPA to Tetra Pak, Waste Management, and others, packaging stakeholders share what they’re grateful for this Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving was sparked by my favorite figure in US history, Abraham Lincoln. His proclamation for such a day, issued on October 3, 1863, amidst the Civil War, pointed to the hard-fought Union victory at Gettysburg three months earlier. Those few days in July were a turning point for the North, though at a great cost — 50,000 Americans were killed.

The rest as they say is history, and ever since the last Thursday in November is set aside as a national day of Thanksgiving in the US.

Although we remain in a global war against COVID-19, there’s never been a better year to pause and express gratitude for blessings big and small. It’s in this spirit that Packaging Digest solicited a cross section of packaging stakeholders whose words of gratefulness appear in the accompanying slideshow gallery.

I extend my personal gratitude to those who continue to work through the extraordinary constraints of a pandemic and to those focused on improving packaging to make our lives and our world better. I also offer my appreciation to those cooperative companies and savvy managers who share information and insights with Packaging Digest throughout the year that we can message to the broader packaging community and beyond.
