WestPack on the horizon

The latest advances in packaging and processing—including machinery and machinery components, containers, materials, custom automation technology, contact services, software, robotics and more—are promised at WestPack 2008 in Anaheim, CA, from Jan. 29 to 31. Five special-focus pavilions will be included: the new Green Packaging, plus Contract Packaging and Outsourcing Services; Cosmetic and Personal Care Packaging; Material Handling & Logistics; and the Pharmaceutical & Nutraceutical Packaging pavilion.

Seven related shows will be co-locating with WestPack: ATX West; PLASTEC West; Pacific Design & Manufacturing; MD&M Wes;, Electronics West; the new PTX West; and the new Green Manufacturing Expo. One registration covers all of the eight shows.

149965-pdx0801westpk1.jpgA conference program on Medical Device Packaging is part of the MD&M West show and will be held on Monday, Jan. 28—the day before the show opens. Part I of the session covers Compliance/Regulation, including a report from the IoPP Medical Device Packaging Technical Committee; “The Compliance Sweet Spot,” Employing the TIR 22 for Effective ISO11607; Medical Packaging Conditioning/Aging and Distribution Simulation; and Test Method Specifics (Peel vs Burst). Part II comprises Case Study/Real World Application, including Sterilization and Packaging Materials; Root Cause Package Failure Analysis; The Art and Science of Thermoforming; and Successful Projects with a Package Engineering Consultant. Online registation is free, including during show days. Otherwise, on-site registration entails a $55 fee. A welcome reception with food and drinks will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Hall E. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 29 and 30 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 31.
