Forum Will Discuss Anti-Counterfeiting Measures for Pharmaceuticals

Blue Vector Systems today announced that Mike Gardner, Blue Vector’s president and CEO, will co-present a workshop with the Logistics Director for DPT Laboratories, Alan Green, at the Center for Business Intelligence’s (CBI) Premier Forum for the Life Sciences Industry on Anti-Counterfeiting and Anti-Diversion Strategies.

Scheduled for Monday October 20, 2008, the half-day workshop will focus on considerations for implementing a comprehensive strategy for leveraging serialization and authentication technologies in the pharmaceutical industry.

In addition to helping attendees understand the business value of serialization for ePedigree mandates and beyond — as well as sift through some of the process and technology choices available — the session will also discuss considerations for developing an appropriate strategy aligned with organizational-specific needs and objectives.

Providing a real world illustration, Green will discuss how he expects serialization and ePedigree will impact DPT Laboratories’ business and customers as well as detail the company’s strategy and the ROI considerations that went beyond simply meeting future mandates.

Recognized globally for technical expertise and virtually unlimited manufacturing capabilities, DPT Laboratories is a contract development and manufacturing organization specializing in semi-solid and liquid dosage forms and the industry source for fully integrated drug development and manufacturing solutions.

With more than thirty years of experience in logistics and supply chain management, Alan Green has led all aspects of logistics, purchasing, planning, scheduling and the supply chain, and has won many awards for his work in the pharmaceutical supply chain industry, including the prestigious FedEx Bravo Zulu award for Excellence and the Johnson & Johnson Customer-Centric Award.

“Although the California ePedigree mandate is no longer on the near-term horizon, DPT Laboratories decided to get ahead of the curve by pro-actively moving forward with our serialization and ePedigree initiative,” commented Green. “There were a number of key factors driving this decision, such as consumer protection, addressing counterfeiting and diversion, and, of course, implementation time. It was clear that making an early investment ahead of the mandate would result in tangible ROI and a considerable competitive advantage for DPT’s business, among other compelling business reasons.”

“Hats off to Alan and his colleagues at DPT Laboratories for setting such a strong example in the industry,” added Gardner. “By moving ahead on the company’s own terms — instead of being pulled along by the crowd — DPT is able to enjoy a considerable head start by investing in a solution that makes sense for both its own business and that of its customers.”
