ESS Technologies, Inc. Integrates Tube Filler and Horizontal Cartoner for PackExpo 2007 Visit Booth S-5028 for a hands-on demonstration

July 2007, Blacksburg, VA — ESS Technologies, Inc., U.S. distributor of Bergami packaging machinery, will be demonstrating a complete tube filling/closing/cartoning solution at PackExpo 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada, October 15-17, 2007, booth #S-5028. The system will integrate the Model TF 80 Automatic Tube Filler/Closer with the Model AS 150 Horizontal Cartoner, creating a packaging solution that fills and closes up to 80 tubes per minute then cartons the product at a rate of up to 150 cartons per minute. Both machines meet cGMP requirements, offer quick changeover, small footprint, and a variety of options for carton closure, labeling, leaflet insertion and more. ESS Technology, Inc. project engineers will be available in booth S-5028 to discuss the system and its application in a wide variety of packaging lines. The Model TF 80 fills and closes metal, plastic, polyfoil, and cassette infeed tubes and is suitable for use in sterile rooms and laminar flows. The stainless steel frame and control panel allow easy cleaning and maintenance. Moving mechanical parts are based on self-lubricated components, while a user-friendly touch screen display allows the machine operator to adjust performance and maintain operational logs. In addition, the TF 80 can run both plastic and metal tubes without removing the sealing stations, providing low changeover time. The machine features a 12-position turn table. Tube infeed options include cassette infeed system, ergonomic and high capacity infeed system, and orthogonal two-axis robotized system. The AS 150 achieves cartoning using intermittent motion and can load up to 150 cartons per minute. Changeover time is 15-20 minutes typical when all dimensions change. Digital indicators on the front of the machine allow for reproducible, settable adjustments, and in most cases, no tools are required. The carton transport system uses patented technology that gently handles fragile and high glossy cartons without scratching or damaging the package. User-friendly PLC with LC display assures ease of operation with a minimum of operator training. Carton closure options include hot-melt glue or fold and tuck.
