Automatic applicator attaches handles to single bottles
This new handle applicator lowers labor costs and provides easy entry into automation for low-volume packaging operations looking to add consumer-convenient carrying handles to their beverage bottles. The SBH 20 machine from Roberts PolyPro applies EasyLift high-density polyethylene (HDPE) handles to single jugs holding from 0.8 to 2.6 gallons (3 to 10 liters) of beverage (such as water or juice) at speeds up to 20 bottles per minute.
A small footprint and casters allow this automatic system to integrate easily on different packaging lines in a plant for operational flexibility. Operator-friendly features include fast handle loading into a magazine—like staples into a stapler—as well as simple push-button control.
The recyclable EasyLift handles, also supplied by Roberts PolyPro, are 60% to 75% thinner than injection-molded handles. This enables the company to ship a lot more handles on pallets than competitors, which cuts your transportation costs and inventory space. Handles are available in distinctive designs, including Pantone Matching System (PMS) colors, and custom sizes, if needed. Standard sizes are 28mm, 38mm, 43mm and 48mm cap sizes.
