Carlsberg launches 1-L King Can in Germany

In March 2011, Carlsberg launched its Tuborg Pilsener beer in Germany in a two-piece King Can from Rexam, one of the world's leading beverage can makers. The new can size, which holds 1 liter, has been released by Carlsberg in a response to growing consumer demand for an alternative to the existing three piece, non aluminium 1-liter can range already available in some parts of Germany.

"These cans, and their distinctive on-shelf presence, help our customers to tower over the competition and appeal to a new range of consumers", explains Welf Jung, business development director at Rexam Beverage Can Europe and Asia. "As a real eye-catcher the new Tuborg can offers the consumer a unique drinking experience and I'm sure that it will attract many impulse buyers."

Already available in the Russian market, 1-liter two-piece aluminium cans are a novelty in Western Europe. The DWI (Drawn Wall Ironed) 1-liter cans are only produced by Rexam, and are 100 percent and infinitely recyclable without loss of quality. With an extensive range of lacquers and finishes available, the King Can can be tailored to fit customer needs, making it as eye-catching as possible.
