Packaging Digest's sister publication Plastics Today reports on a new three-layer barrier PP sheet structure that is thermoformed into a fully microwaveable 300-mL plastic pot that contains wet version of a usually dehydrated snack. RPC Barrier Containers and RPC Bebo Plastik, which developed the bespoke container for Pot Noodle, say the new package design allows the noodles to feature real chunks of meat for the first time in the brand's history.

Pot Noodle, which is a Unilever brand, worked with RPC Barrier Containers on the package design, which is thermoformed at RPC Bebo Plastik. The PP/EVOH/PP sheet construction reportedly ensures an effective oxygen barrier for an ambient shelf life of up to 18 months.
