Nordson Corp to acquire EDI Holdings
Nordson Corp. is acquiring EDI Holdings Inc., a Wisconsin-based provider of slot coating and flat polymer extrusion dies for plastic processors and web converters. EDI (which also has operations in Germany and China) will operate as part of Nordson's Adhesive Dispensing Systems segment. Nordson expects the acquisition of EDI to be accretive to the company's earnings in the first full year of operation.
CTL Packaging to build 160,000-sq.-ft. facility in NC
CTL Packaging is constructing its first US manufacturing facility in Dallas, NC. The completed facility will use an injection molding process to produce plastic tubes and caps for cosmetics and personal care products. The complex will house production, research and development, warehouse and distribution operations, plant utilities, raw material storage, maintenance operations, and corporate offices for the firm.
Sealed Air selects Cardia Biohybrid sustainable resin
Sealed Air has tapped sustainable resins supplier Cardia Bioplastics as a development partner to improve the environmental performance of its Fill-Air inflatable packaging solutions. The new Fill-Air R5 brand is intended to demonstrate Sealed Air's environmental commitment to renewable and recycled content, plus reduced, re-used and re-cycled product. Cardia Biohybrid resins combine renewable thermoplastics with polyolefin material to reduce dependence on finite oil resources and to reduce carbon footprint. The renewable material is derived from corn crops grown for industrial use.
Kuraray Co. acquires MonoSol LLC
Kuraray Co. Ltd. has acquired MonoSol LLC, a manufacturer of water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol. According to company representatives, the purchase supports Kuraray's plans to expand its Vinyl Acetate Chemical Chain Business; the company intends to expand its product offering of PVA films into a wider range of industrial applications.
