General Mills changes Yoplait distribution in Canada
According to General Mills, Yoplait S.A.S. has reached an agreement to terminate the current Yoplait brand license in Canada on Sept. 1, 2012. At that time, General Mills Canada will begin to market, sell and distribute Yoplait yogurt products in Canada under license from Yoplait S.A.S. The current Canadian licensee, Ultima Foods, will continue to produce Yoplait branded products to be sold by General Mills Canada under a multi-year manufacturing agreement.

 

D&W Fine Pack acquires thermoforming division of Clear Lam
D&W Fine Pack LLC, a leader in the food packaging industry and a portfolio company of Mid Oaks Investments LLC, has bought the thermoforming division of Clear Lam Packaging Inc., headquartered in Elk Grove Village, IL. Since 1969, Clear Lam has been a leader in the packaging industry, providing innovative packaging solutions for use in bakery, prepared meals, confectionary and produce applications. The addition of Clear Lam significantly increases D&W's presence in the retail grocery market segment. With plants in Elk Grove Village, IL, Vernon, CA, and Nanjing, China, Clear Lam compliments D&W's existing North American manufacturing asset footprint and adds a manufacturing plant in Asia, opening up opportunities for continued growth both in North America and the Pacific Rim. This strategic acquisition brings D&W to 16 manufacturing and warehousing facilities worldwide.

 

Crown names European head
Gerard Gifford, president of Crown Beverage Packaging North America, has been named as the new president of Crown Europe, effective June 1, 2012. Christopher Homfray, current president of Crown Europe, will step down (due to personal reasons), remaining with the company as an evp of the company's European division.

 

New interactive website better serves engineers
U.S. Tsubaki, a pioneer in power transmission and motion control products, has worked closely with the Enterprise Solutions Group of Thomas Industrial Network to create a central, online platform to host all of its product information.
