Berry Plastics files registration statement for proposed initial public offering
Berry Plastics Group Inc., the parent of Berry Plastics Corp., has filed a registration statement on Form S-1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission relating to a proposed initial public offering of shares of its common stock. The number of shares to be offered and the price range for the offering have not yet been determined. These securities may not be sold nor may offers to buy be accepted prior to the time the registration statement becomes effective.

 
Thermo Fisher Scientific able to deliver metal detector within 48 hours
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has launched YES!, a new global rapid availability program for its line of APEX metal detectors. The company has developed the program to address a variety of time-critical issues ranging from crisis response for recalls to production disruptions due to equipment failure. In most countries around the world, food processing facilities will now be able to take delivery of a new APEX metal detector in less than 48 hours, vs the industry standard of four to six weeks.

 

TCBY to appear in Walmarts nationwide

TCBY, The Country's Best Yogurt and frozen yogurt pioneer, today announced a licensing partnership with Spring Creek Holdings for a new line of pre-packaged frozen yogurt, "TCBYGrocery." Barrington, Ill.-based Spring Creek Holdings will produce the following flavors under the TCBY label: Chocolate, Vanilla Bean, Mint Chocolate Chunk, Toffee Crunch, Cookie Dough, Cookies & Cream, Very Berry Strawberry and Mango Peach. The eight flavors will be released this month in pints and quarts of hard pack frozen yogurt, as well as a variety of novelties including frozen yogurt sandwiches and bars at select nationwide retailers including Wal-Mart, Super Target, Kroger, Publix, Giant and many more with additional exclusive innovations to follow later this year.

 

Huhtamäki Oyj to acquire a major foodservice packaging supplier in Asia
Huhtamaki has agreed to acquire Josco (Holdings) Ltd., a manufacturer and distributor of paper and plastic disposable packaging products headquartered in Hong Kong and with manufacturing in China. With the acquisition Huhtamaki continues to implement its strategy of quality growth and significantly strengthens its position as a global provider of high-quality foodservice packaging products. Josco is privately owned and has significant exports to Europe, the United States and Australia.

 

Great Northern names sales deveopment exec
Great Northern Corp. has promoted John Whitaker to vp, sales development, of its StrataGraph operation in Oshkosh, WI. In his new role, Whitaker will be part of Great Northern's Consumer Packaging and Display sales development team and will focus his efforts on StrataGraph Point-of-Sale (POS) packaging.

 

SuperCorrExpo offers group discount for box plant employees
The 2012 TAPPI/AICC SuperCorrExpo, a global hub of corrugated networking, is offering a special discount to box plant attendees. For one price, an unlimited number of employees from the same box plant can attend the show, taking place Oct. 1-4, 2012, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
