Monterey Gourmet Foods, Salinas, CA, has repackaged its top-selling Sonoma Cheese line of premium quality, flavored jack cheeses to highlight the brand’s heritage and quality. Sonoma Cheese products are now wrapped in eco-friendly parchment and delivered in a new block shape that creates more shelf appeal and a 25 percent improvement in yield, the co. says. The parchment packaging features a watermark of the legendary Sonoma “bull” logo, giving it a cleaner, more distinctive look in deli cases and secondary displays. In addition, Monterey Pasta Co. has introduced new packaging for all varieties of its hot-filled sauces that eliminates a paperboard sleeve as well as reduces costs.

“Our vision is to offer quality, healthy food products at a reasonable price to support long-term growth,” says Eric Eddings, president and CEO. “Monterey Pasta was originally created in response to growing interest in healthy gourmet foods. With continued demand for organic foods and regionally sourced ingredients, we extended the brand by bringing more variation to the ‘healthy-for-you’ selections. The new packaging is more elegant, more cost-effective and more production-efficient. These improvements reduce waste and packaging materials, thereby enabling us to keep our prices competitive while increasing our green rating. In addition, we are proudly displaying our California Milk Advisory Board’s Seal of Approval on our Sonoma Cheese labels.”
