The Live-Drum spiral conveyor uses a rotating, stainless-steel drum to help drive the system's modular, plastic belt. Regardless of the conveyor length, the drum imparts a driving force to the inside edge of the belt, creating low tension to allow for longer runs, more tiers and greater elevation changes. Live-Drum is also said to hold a greater capacity than a tabletop spiral conveyor with an equivalent footprint, the co. reports. The system is able to run at speeds from 10 to 150 ft/min, the co. reports, and faster speeds are possible in some cases, it says.
