Harry and David Pinot Noir steak sauce
Harry and David is perhaps best known as a mail-order purveyor of premium fresh fruit. Only in the more recent portion of its nearly 75-year existence has the company forayed into offering products for retail stores.
Recently the company released a shaped pack for its Pinot Noir steak sauce in the U.S. The elongated and waisted neck introduces a shape similar to a carafe, echoing the wine that is a featured ingredient of the product. Innovation also is shown in the tin plate, snap-on cap, which is reusable and provides tamper evidence. The embossed plain blown glass bottle features a label printed litho on self-adhesive paper, and a litho printed hanging card tag around the neck. It is described by the manufacturer as a rich and thick steak sauce flavored with Pinot Noir. The retail product comes in an 11-oz bottle with a reusable snap-on cap. The line of sauces includes two other wine-inspired flavors: Cabernet Steak Sauce; and Port Plum Steak Sauce.
Harry and David's retail products, including the wine-inspired steak sauces, seek to both position themselves as premium alternatives to other products next to them and support the company's high-end image. Arguably, this unique, striking bottle does just that.
