Meet the Press: CPGs Innovating for Efficiency
March 11, 2015
Eking out efficiencies on a production line while remaining flexible enough to handle tomorrow's package designs is often more art than science. Luckily, there's an opportunity for PACK EXPO Las Vegas visitors to learn from the masters.
On Tues., Sept. 27, 3:15 - 4:15 p.m., in room N-253, packaging executives from leading consumer packaged goods companies P&G/Gillette, Frito-Lay and Abbott Nutrition will participate in a "Meet the Press" event as part of the Institute of Packaging Professionals' (IoPP's) Packaging Learning Center Conference.
Last year's Meet the Press was one of the most successful sessions in the program (standing room only), where attendees heard a panel of seven packaging vps and directors talk candidly for 90 minutes about the top trends in packaging for 2011.
This year's 1-hr event will take a more intimate approach: Three top packaging editors will conduct one-on-one interviews with a single speaker; then will bring them all together at the end to engage in lively Q&A with the audience.
Mike Marcinkowski
• John Kalkowski, editorial director, Packaging Digest, will interview Mike Marcinkowski, principal engineer, research and development, for the Gillette division of Procter & Gamble. A graduate of Michigan State University, Marcinkowski works with packaging, from premium systems to emerging market products, for both male and female products, across all Gillette global brands. He also plays cross-functional development roles within P&G, making sure technology is shared and implemented within P&G business units.
Garry Kohl
• Lisa McTigue Pierce, editor, Packaging Digest, will question Garry Kohl, senior director of packaging R&D at Frito-Lay North America, a division of PepsiCo. Kohl has more than 22 years of diversified technical/managerial experience in all facets of packaging functions. In his current position, Kohl is responsible for packaging strategy, innovation, productivity, material sustainability, commercialization and support.
Mark Green
• Daphne Allen, editor, Pharmaceutical & Medical Packaging News, will talk with Mark Green, manager of packaging equipment core technology, Abbott Nutrition, a global leader in specialty pediatric, therapeutic and medical food products for the consumer and institutional markets. His group is responsible for providing capital project estimates, manufacturing line layouts, identification and selection of packaging solutions, custom equipment design, project management and installation/start-up support.
