Multivac HPP (High Pressure Processing)

Multivac has opened a new high pressure processing (HPP) testing facility for perishable food products at its world headquarters in Wolfertschwenden, Germany. Since announcing the availability of HPP fully integrated with its automated packaging technology earlier this year, the company has seen overwhelming demand from food processors worldwide. The new testing center will enable Multivac's customers to conduct comprehensive evaluations of the technology on a variety of product and package types.

"Our customers can bring their food products to the testing center either packed or unpacked, since we obviously also pack the products here on site. In this way our customers can test various packaging concepts in conjunction with high pressure treatment," says Dr. Tobias Richter, head of the HPP program at Multivac.

The HPP testing facility is complemented by a range of services which Multivac provides in its Application Center in Wolfertschwenden. Among these are an established expertise in the area of packaging materials, packaging development and food technology. Multivac also supports its customers in conducting shelf life tests and advises them on designing their packaging concepts to suit high pressure treatment.

Multivac also provides its customers with the necessary facilities to evaluate the test results immediately on site, or to further develop the appropriate packaging concepts.

Processors in the United States may schedule their HPP testing at the Wolfertschwenden site through Multivac Inc. at 800-800-8552.
