Robotic Case Packer Streamlines Changeover

Automation, robotics, and a unique design provide simplified changeover and a small machinery footprint for a new case packer. The TransPacktor Robotic Case Packer (TP-RCP) from AFA Systems Packaging Automation can be used to pack bottles, canisters, and other containers.

The machine features Allen Bradley programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and servo motors. According AFA, the case packer’s loading strategy gets the credit for significantly decreasing changeover time.

Rather than loading cases via pick-and-place or through gravity dropping, the machine erects the case and places it over a collated bottle array. This eliminates the need for change parts, and because a separate case erector is not required, the machine’s footprint is small.

AFA will be exhibiting this new product at Pack Expo Las Vegas 2021 (Las Vegas Convention Center, September 27-29), Booth C-5017.
