The SouthPack trade show is returning, following a break of seven years. The event will be held June 14-16, 2022, at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, NC. SouthPack will be one of six shows co-located at the all-new IM Engineering South advanced design and manufacturing expo.

The five events sharing the exposition floor with SouthPack, will be:

• Automation Technology Expo (ATX) South
• Design & Manufacturing (D&M) South
• Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) South
• Plastec South
• Powder & Bulk Solids South

The combined event is expected to attract more than 350 exhibitors and more than 4,000 attendees.

The best of packaging design, robotics and automation, 3D printing, labeling, manufacturing equipment, and flexible packaging will be on display at SouthPack. The event will feature innovative packaging solutions for a range of industrial and consumer goods, including medical products.

SouthPack will also offer 30+ free educational sessions. Packaging education topics will include sustainable packaging, cannabis packaging, food and beverage packaging trends, automation and robotics, and smart manufacturing.

The last SouthPack show occurred in Orlando, FL, in 2015, and the most recent Charlotte event was the year before that.

Steve Everly, group event director, Informa Markets – Engineering (IME), explains, “There was a break in events as we adjusted the IME portfolio to be more reflective of the cadence our audience desired in addition to the geographies our exhibitors wanted to trade in.”

Improved manufacturing conditions in the region make 2022 the ideal year to bring back SouthPack.

“Manufacturing trends in Southeastern states show a resurgence in advanced manufacturing,” specifically automobiles and aerospace, Everly says. “The region’s pro-business state and local governments, as well as a growing — and increasingly diverse — population, support the growth of manufacturing in the region.”
