Georgia Pacific closing Iowa plant

Georgia-Pacific plans to close its box plant, which will result in loss of 45 jobs at the eastern Iowa city of Monticell.

 

Last week, the workers were informed that the plant will fill orders over the next few weeks, and then would be shut down. According to Georgia-Pacific, it has beentrying to make the plant profitable for some time. Shifting of the production will be done to units in Dubuque and in Oshkosh, Wis.

 

Georgia-Pacific based in Atlanta deals in the production of tissue, packaging and building items.State agencies will be requested by Monticello  to assist the affected workers in getting a new job.
