Packaging Digest’s sister publication -- PlasticsToday – recently reported that plastics prices are experiencing upwards pressure. The publication noted that “PET prices are up all over the globe” and PS costs are rising higher in Europe.

The publication reports that plastic processors in need of PET are forced to pay more for the material as feedstock process climb, driven by a mixture of demand and some outages. Plastics Today also states that processors in Europe have experienced steadily climbing demand that is forcing PS prices higher. The pricing situation is receiving additional pricing pressure from the upheaval in the Middle East, which has boosted crude prices significantly.
