PAC Machinery Bags and Materials, a US manufacturer of flexible packaging and a division of PAC Machinery, is transitioning the company’s custom and stock pre-opened polyethylene bags for automatic baggers.
Effective immediately, all PAC Machinery poly bags and materials will be made from at least 25% post-industrial recycled resin as standard. It’s part of a corporate commitment to sustainable packaging and an effort to decrease the company’s environmental impact.
These bags are used on automatic bagging machines to package products for a range of industries including industrial, automotive, ecommerce fulfillment, and more. PAC’s pre-opened bags are compatible and for use on any brand of automatic bagging machine, with competitive pricing and lead times.
"We are thrilled to announce this exciting update to our products to do what is best for both the environment and our customers,” says Greg Quinn, General Manager, PAC Machinery Bags and Materials. “As an innovative company that is not only committed to our customers, but to a better environment for all, we are leading the way in sustainability in packaging. Expect even more big news later this year with our products, as we continue investments in green innovations.”
Customers can still order bags made with virgin content upon request.
25% recycled content bags now standard and 100% recycled content bags are available
The company informs us that interest in this kind of material is “huge. We have had an increase in customers wanting more sustainable options. Our customers have been able to get bags up to 100% recycled content, but we have never offered the 25% recycled content as standard. That means every bag a customer buys from us is sustainable unless requested otherwise or they purchase stock bags until we run out.”
We also learned that the sustainable bags are at a price parity with virgin PE bags — there is no premium pricing.
The company also committed to sourcing the corrugated materials from third-party, sustainable-certified vendors. These initiatives are rolling out as PAC Machinery releases a new official Sustainability Commitment to sustainable packaging innovation.
