Excellent Packaging & Supply, an innovator and wholesale distributor of sustainable, biodegradable, and nature-based packaging for foodservice and other applications, has signed an agreement to provide a complete range of compostable and biodegradable foodservice and to-go supplies for il Buco Alimentari & Vineria, the new marketplace that recently opened at 53 Great Jones Street in the Noho neighborhood in Manhattan. The marketplace is Il Buco's second location and features a market and wine bar/restaurant that complements the flagship restaurant that has long been popular for its rustic Italian dishes.
Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria offers a variety of house-made products, including pastas, pastries and cured meats-all crafted using traditional methods and with a focus on sustainable practices. To ensure the cups, utensils, bags and other foodservice items resonate with the core principles of the new restaurant, co-founder Donna Lennard searched for foodservice and packaging products that minimized environmental impact.
With its reputation and expertise in providing branded green solutions to foodservice operators for nearly eight years, Excellent Packaging was able to provide a complete range of solutions that align with Il Buco's green philosophies, and that present their brand effectively on an assortment of different packaging media.
Donna Lennard, the owner of il Buco Alimentari & Vineria, and her design agency, Mucca Design, reviewed a wide selection of foodservice supplies, assessing them on functional, aesthetic and sustainability criteria. "We wanted a specific look for everything from coffee cups to bags, and Excellent Packaging was consistently able to deliver more checks in the ‘yes' column," Lennard says.

"The devil is in the details and we work closely with our customers to ensure their brand is rendered perfectly across all the appropriate packaging solutions."
Excellent Packaging & Supply provides Il Buco with branded, unbleached, natural kraft paper hot cups lined with Ingeo, a bioplastic coating made from vegetable starch; clear branded cold cups, also made lined with Ingeo; and branded shopping bags made from 100%-recycled paper, 95% of which is post-consumer and comes from a factory whose paper is FSC-certified. The overall effect projects a strong commitment to environmental stewardship. The natural color of the cups and bags is a result of the minimal processing of the paper used to make them, reflecting the short distance from nature to finished product, just like the food at Il Buco.
