Utz Brands Inc.’s oldest manufacturing plant in Hanover, MD will close in first quarter 2024 as part of several initiatives it expects to support long-term growth.

In a statement, Utz Brands said no jobs will be lost in the Carlisle Street plant closing as they will be moved to one of the three other manufacturing facilities in Hanover.

As part of the multifaceted plan to optimize its supply chain, Utz said it has signed an agreement for a new approximately 650,000-sq.-ft distribution center at the Northeast Logistics Center in Hanover, which is expected to open in first quarter 2025.

Utz will also close its Carlisle, PA plant, its oldest facility, in Q1 2024, the company announced at the end of September.

The snack manufacturer has sold its manufacturing plant in Bluffton, IN, as well. And plans also call for selling its Gramercy, LA manufacturing plant, which was irreparably damaged by Hurricane Ida in 2021.

The Bluffton plant was sold to Super-Pufft Snacks USA Inc.

In May, the snack food company announced the closing of its Birmingham, AL manufacturing site around July 3, 2023, which it looks to sell.

With the closures, the company will have 13 active plants, which includes the manufacturing facility in Kings Mountain, NC plant purchased in April 2022.

Utz Brands Inc. manufactures brands including Utz, On The Border Chips & Dips, Golden Flake, Zapp’s, Good Health, Boulder Canyon, Hawaiian Brand, and TORTIYAHS!, among others.
