FDA Recall Update: March 2024

Here are the food & beverage, pet product, and drug/medical device recalls by the US Food and Drug Administration.

In March, the US Food and Drug Administration recalled 21 products. This is half of the recalls in February, which had one major food recall that affected numerous brands and products.

Out of the 21 recalls in March, 15 were food and beverage products, 6 were drugs and medical devices, and none were recalled in the pet food product category.

Food & Beverage

Eight products were due to undeclared allergens:

  • KALO Foods Carrot Cake Slice – undeclared soy

  • Stonewall Kitchen Gluten-Free Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut Mix – undeclared wheat

  • KALO Foods Chocolate Cake Slice – undeclared soy (the product label says “Chocolate Cake” but packaging contains Carrot Cake, which contains soy.)

  • Wesco Fresh Mint No-Bake Cookies – undeclared peanuts

  • Great Value Honey Roasted Cashews – undeclared coconut and milk

  • Door Country Love Dark Chocolate Cherry Granola – undeclared almonds

  • Food Club All-Purpose Flour – undeclared milk and eggs

  • Geissler’s Supermarket Inc. Sushi products – undeclared milk, wheat, and eggs

2 products were recalled due to the potential of salmonella:

  • Trader Joe’s 50% Less Salt Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews

  • Helados Mexico Mango Bars in variety pack

4 products were on recall due to elevated levels of lead:

  • Colonna Marcum Ground Cinnamon & Supreme Ground Cinnamon

  • El Chilar Ground Cinnamon “Canela Molida”

  • SWAD Cinnamon Powder

  • La Fiesta Ground Cinnamon

1 Product was recalled due to the potential of a foodborne illness - Clostridium botulinum:

  • AJI MORI Chillimama Sauce

Drugs & Medical Devices

There were 6 recalls in drugs & medical devices, which is one less than February:

  • Par Pharmaceutical Treprostinil 20 mg/20 mL injection – potential presence of silicone particulate matter

  • Mojo, Mojo 2, iQ 2, Phantom 2 CPAP and BIPAP Masks with Magnets – potential interference with certain medical implants

  • Pyramid Wholesale, various brands of Dietary Supplements for sexual enhancement – undeclared Sildenafil and/or Tadalafil

  • InfuTronix Nimbus Pump System – due to a high number (3,698) of customer complaints related to the infusion pump systems.

  • Amneal Vancomycin Hydrochloride for Oral Solution, USP 250 mg/5 mL – super potent due to overfilled bottles

  • Eugia US LLC Methocarbamol Injection, USP 1000 mg/10 mL (100 mg/mL) Single Dose vial – due to device and drug safety, presence of particle matter
