5 special solutions for case packing tasks
Secondary packaging operations need speed, flexibility and adaptability to keep up with today’s high-speed filling lines. Here’s a handful of systems designed to do just that, which you can see in person at the upcoming WestPack 2016 show (Feb. 9-11; Anaheim, CA).
Case packer operates in semi- or fully-automatic mode
Rated at up to 20 picks or 10 cases of flexible packaging per minute, the BantamPro ELS (photo above) can operate as a semi-automatic or, with integrated case erector and sealer, as a fully-automatic machine. It can pack pouches, bags and flow-wrapped products into a range of cases. The BantamPro ELS features a steel frame for durability, a small footprint to conserve floor space and an intuitive human-machine interface (HMI) to make operations straightforward and trouble-shooting fast. Changeover for different products is streamlined to improve throughput and reduce downtime.

Case erectors change over quickly with rapid-load case magazine
For faster start-ups and changeovers, a new Rapid Load Case Magazine on case erectors from this manufacturer cuts load time in half compared to other systems from the company, and safely loads cases while the machine is running. This increases efficiency and improves ergonomics, especially for mixed media case forming environments. Able to handle a range of case styles, the flexible magazine integrates easily with automatic and robotic case loaders to create a high-speed automation solution.

3-in-1 case packing system puts flexibility at its heart
The new R-1 case erector/packer/sealer uses the D2 robotic head for gentle loading of a variety of products. The infeed system comes in different formats to accommodate your specific applications. For example, when the product is a carton or bottle, a simple flat conveyor will transfer the products from filling to case packing. Operations can pack flexible bags/pouches in either a flat or stand-up configuration by employing a dual-axis servo.
