futurethink Innovation Tip: Create a Roadmap

What happens to an idea with nowhere to go? Absolutely nothing. Ideas can’t materialize into innovations without a strong process in place. Set a brief (one-hour or less) meeting with your core team to sketch out a rough roadmap for ideas.

Your roadmap should ideally look like a funnel, where all ideas get put into the top and only the best ones make it through to the end. How many phases and review sessions you have to get from idea to concept to launch is up to you and the needs of your organization.

Think of your last successful launch, and trace the project back to a time when it was just an idea. Where did the idea come from? What happened to it along the way to ensure it came to fruition?
