Medical packaging manufacturer adds U.S. contract packaging and manufacturing
SteriPack USA has expanded its Lakeland, FL, location

With the second phase of SteriPack USA’s expansion now complete, SteriPack has what Tony Paolino calls a "substantial business continuity program” in place.

"We now have the same equipment in the United States, Asia, and Europe,” Paolino, President of SteriPack USA Ltd., tells PMP News. “If needed, we can go to our online global system and can extract all specifications and orders and in a week or two start manufacturing virtually the same product."

“Medical device manufacturers need global suppliers with consistency,” Paolino adds.

SteriPack USA’s expansion in Lakeland, FL, adds 7000 sq ft to its existing Class 8 cleanroom area for a total of 20,000 sq ft. The additional 7000 sq ft was added specifically to support contract manufacturing and contract packaging and includes a humidity-controlled environment for manufacturing and packaging of moisture-sensitive products such as diagnostic kits. One project, for instance, requires maintaining relative humidity of 30 to 35%, Paolino says.

In addition, the company’s USA division also provides injection molding, liquid filling, pouch sealing, tray sealing, kit packaging, as well as form-fill-seal packaging services.

“We have one form-fill-seal machine currently installed, and we are about to buy another, larger one,” Paolino reports. “And our injection molding equipment is in the middle of IQ/OQ/PQ."

These services expand the location’s existing capabilities of cleanroom manufacturing of chevron peel pouches, weld-seal tear-open pouches, vented peelable pouches, linear-tear bags and pouches, header bags, coated die-cut lids, and more. "We now run over 20 million vented peelable and linear tear pouches alone,” he says, adding that he sees demand increasing.

Paolino adds that SteriPack USA is up to 65 employees, having doubled staff over the last year, and he expects that the location will double again by next year.

SteriPack USA is already planning phase three.

To discuss the new location as well as future developments, SteriPack USA will be on hand at Booth #2043 at the upcoming MD&M West in Anaheim, CA, February 9-11 and SteriPack at Pharmapack Europe at Booth #130 in Paris February 10-11.
