Chocolatier takes cue from fashion trends in designing gift boxesThompson Brands LLC, the renowned chocolatier with a legacy dating back to 1879, has launched a premium, all-natural chocolate novelty line under the Thompson brand.

Under the guidance of CEO Gene Dunkin, who has a 20-year pedigree in the chocolate industry including a tenure as president of Godiva Chocolatier, Thompson Chocolate is launching a fashion-forward presentation of fine foil-wrapped treats, in elegant brown and white polka-dotted gift boxes.

Thompson unveiled its new, contemporary packaging and chocolates at the National Confectioners Association's 2011 Sweets & Snacks Expo, running May 24-26 at Chicago's McCormick Place.

"We are thrilled to welcome this line of exquisite treats to Thompson's portfolio of quality chocolate items," says Gene Dunkin, CEO of Thompson Brands. "This is a big step for Thompson as we both leverage and elevate our 132 year brand heritage. After helping so many companies develop and market their own private label brands, we determined it was time to leverage Thompson's expertise and experience in the confectionary industry and carve out our own unique niche."

After more than a century of perfecting the art of chocolate molding, and delivering custom and private label chocolate novelties to some of America's most respected chocolate companies and retailers, Thompson's own unique and exciting new look is expected to make a big splash with retailers this fall.

"Thompson Chocolate consistently creates great-tasting, quality chocolates that are also all-natural, which is a highly popular category and influencer of purchasing decisions with our customers," says Janice Leong, buyer, Cost Plus World Market. "The new polka-dotted packaging is bold yet stylish and will surely be a hit for all holidays, celebrations, and special occasions."

Thompson's fashion-forward presentation of fine foil-wrapped chocolate novelties aren't the only chocolate innovation making headlines-Adora, the first calcium and vitamin D supplement in rich, premium, all-natural chocolate gives women a tasty, indulgent treat to look forward to-and at only 30 calories per serving. The proprietary Adora formula, developed by Thompson Brands, meets women's daily health needs while satiating chocolate cravings. Each indulgent chocolate Adora disk provides up to 50 percent of the daily value of calcium plus vitamin D3 and magnesium for optimal absorption, supporting total body health through a variety of life stages.

Thompson's process for manufacturing Adora Calcium & Vitamin D Supplements meets the utmost quality control and standards and is regulated by the U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA). The high quality calcium carbonate, vitamin D3, and magnesium all meet United States Pharmacopeia (USP) standards.
