Just how up-to-date are you on packaging news? In case you missed them, here are the three mos- popular stories from last week's Packaging Daily newsletters.

1. Craft brewery to launch flagship beers in cans

The Abita Brewing Co. has announced plans to offer three of its flagship brews in cans: Amber, Purple Haze and Jockamo I.P.A. The new Abita cans will be coated with a special water-based lining, that is engineered to protect and preserve the great taste of the beer by insulating the beer from the can's interior surface. Canning also limits exposure to UV light and oxygen, two elements that can damage the taste of beer.

2. Mega-food companies support emerging technology for recycling laminated packaging

Enval has partnered with both Nestlé and Kraft Foods to support the construction of the first commercial scale plant for Enval's patented material recovery technology. Enval's recycling equipment will be sold, ultimately, to companies that offer waste handling services.

3.  Bag-in-box serves up six-pack consumer convenience

A new six-pack cocktail range has debuted from beverage brand No. 1 in bag-in-box packaging. The new product from beverage brand No. 1 comprises six 0.5-L packages in two different combinations: One six pack contains gin, vodka and four types of vermouth (Bianco, Extra Dry, Rosso Sweet and Rosso Bitter), and the other pack contains gin, vodka and four types of vermouth, and the other offers gin, rum, vodka and three flavored vodkas; banana, kiwi, and chocolate/orange.
